Summer Attractions Close to Home: New Resort on Lake Conroe

Thursday, May 02, 2019

Staycation anyone? You don’t have to go far from home to enjoy summer festivities with the family when you buy a new home The Falls.

While our community is well-equipped for summer fun (like our splash pad, water slide, fire pit, recreational lake, walking trails, and more) sometimes it’s nice to explore the surrounding area. Within an hour of the neighborhood you can find attractions such as Hurricane Harbor waterpark, outdoor shopping at Market Street or a summer concert line-up at the world-class Cynthia Woods Pavilion.

Not to mention – the excitement keeps growing! According to a recent article by Community Impact, Margaritaville Resort is making its way to nearby Lake Conroe located 30 miles north of Falls at Imperial Oaks.

The company, in partnership with Atlanta-based Songy Highroads and Baton Rouge-based The Wampold Companies, recently acquired the 186-acre property on Lake Conroe where the 445-room La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa currently sits at 600 La Torretta Blvd., Montgomery, according the release.

“We are thrilled to bring our first Margaritaville Resort in Texas to the Houston area with an incredible location on Lake Conroe,” said Rick Cunningham, senior vice president of Margaritaville Development, in a statement. “This resort will be a welcome escape for those in Texas’s major metropolitan areas and beyond, offering a lakeside paradise dedicated to relaxation, fun, adventure and the Margaritaville state of mind.”

La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa will be transformed into Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville by adding guest rooms and lakefront villas to the property and converting the two existing restaurants into Margaritaville brands LandShark Bar & Grill and 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill. The property will feature 360 guest rooms in its main 20-story hotel tower.

“The Margaritaville lifestyle brand is one of the hottest in the country and Texas is a prime market for it,” Songy Highroads CEO Todd Nocerini said in a statement. “The fact that the lakefront resort is an easy drive for residents of the state’s four largest markets only adds to the excitement and potential pool of guests.”
