The Falls community came together this weekend for the 2nd annual Explore the Falls Falls 10K, 5K and Kids Run that kicked-off Saturday morning at the Lake Club. Participants enjoyed live music, face painting, Shipley’s Donuts, crafts with Home Depot and more. This year the event proudly supported Operation Homefront in honor of Veterans Day!
The race course weaved through asphalt roads and manicured trails in The Falls, with the 10k course making a big loop around the 100-acre Lake Holcomb — a brand new recreational area in The Falls. The 5k course made it’s way from the Lake Club down the newly opened entrance road Imperial Promenade.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, this year’s race participants were greeting by frozen turkeys along each course. Any runner who was able to carry the turkey through to the finish line had the honors of taking it home with them for a feast! For every 10 participants, one frozen turkey laid on the course.
